  • Make your own fossil from Plaster of Paris -use chicken bones, shells, leaves. Record how you did it on an iPad. (Naturalistic; Bodily-Kinesthetic; Visual-Spatial)
  • Select a range of different sized bones uncovered on the dig. Gentle tap them with a stick. What sounds do they make? Which is louder? Which is softer? Why? Can you make a tune with them? (Musical-Rhythmic)

Using the dinosaur bones from the Burke Box:

  • Examine one of the dinosaur skulls. What information does it tell you and your team? Record your observations and your reasons on an iPad. (Visual-Spatial; Logical-Mathematical; Verbal-Linguistic; Interpersonal)
  • Compare the different dinosaur teeth. What type of animals might they have come from? What clues helped you? Record your observations in your science journal. (Naturalistic; Logical-Mathematical; Verbal-Linguistic; Interpersonal)
  • Draw one of the dinosaur skulls in your science journal. Label as many parts of it as you can. Look through the class dinosaur books to see if you can find a dinosaur with a similar skull shape. What type of dinosaur is it? Record your findings next to your journal. Write: It might be a ……. (Visual-Spatial; Naturalistic; Logical-Mathematical)
  • Choose one of the dinosaur excavation images from Google and record it in your science journal. Label as many parts as you can.
